The 1920's return to Kings Cross
Bayswater Diner is the latest venture from restaurateurs Peter Lew and Nicole Galloway, who also own Barrio Chino (across the road) and Fei Jai.

Located on Bayswater road (just downstairs from Hugo's), the diner has a high class, refined look to it; think golden hew, classy music and barmen shaking cocktails. One would think, from the look of it, that the menu would be pricey, but that's not the case. The menu, consisting of american staples - cheese burgers, gumbo, and Sloppy Joes to name a few - is quite affordable.

A drinks list accompanies the menu and the diner is fully licensed with a wine list, cocktail list and milkshakes.

As we enter on Sunday night, circa 8:30pm, the diner is quite empty and our party of seven is quickly accommodated.

We order a selection of burgers, Sloppy Joes, pulled pork rolls, angel hair pasta, mac and cheese, fries and prawns. The food is good but nothing to rave about. I feel that the decor really is outstanding though.

Check the place out for a casual meal or a few swanky drinks. It'd make a great place to start a night out in the Cross.
