Let's break it down. The chips are plentiful, tasty and fresh cut potato not out of a bag. They are cooked well so that they are not overly crunchy but also not soggy. The Cod, as well as all the seafood options, are also obviously fresh, firm and tasty. For once the pics on someone's website live up to the actual food.
The extras that my kids enjoy, like potato gems and dagwood dogs, are of course prefrozen, but cooked fresh when ordered and cooked well avoiding overcooking or undercooking every time. If you go for the Burgers you have to try the Jacko. It's famous in the local area for a very good reason. Price is about average for fish and chips, but the quality makes it a standout.
The location is a short walk from the bay and it's ok in its own right, but shines more as a take away. Internally there are some quirky little touches, like a collection of Coke memorabilia and a lot of personal touches, which makes waiting for your food more interesting (although if you call ahead you are in and out very fast).
This has been a family favourite since we moved to the peninsula and although we have tried most of the other fish and chip shops around, and now live closer to other places, when we have fish and chips we inevitably go here.
We too totally recommend this place, the fish is fresh, they cook in fresh oil for delicious crispy chips and staff are wonderful. The burgers aren't that bad either... Value for money , absolutely . My only negative is I only get to go here once a month.
