and its annexed hospital is a monument proudly considered by the community of San Vito al Tagliamento, Pordenone.

I would like to give you some hints, in case you have relatives here (every summer we have International exchange students from New Zealand, Canada, France, Switzerland and Germany) and you might visit this citadel in the future.

Even though this is a little deconsecrated church that once was used to celebrate masses for the and local patients and sick pilgrims of the connected hospital - an ancient building of 1300 - you would see the frescos by Pomponio Amalteo and the sculpted work of arts by Pilacorte and low reliefs by Pietro Baratta.

Inside, you can ring the bell that, as it is said, it would help you to entice your fortune.

Pomponio Amalteo, during the XVI century, painted the stories of the Virgin Mary with feeble tones.

Baratta, the baroque sculptor, is famous for having worked at Villa Manin and Venice, as well as in the Saint Petersburg gardens.

Pilacorte was a minor artist, whose activity remained essentially in the Friuli Venezia Giulia region, but his cherubs were noted for their unusual expressions (amazed, puzzled, amused).

The walls are decorated by coloured marbled inlay, I could not find any information on the creator of them, and maybe they were regional workers or, I dare, followers from the Cosmati workshops.

I lingered on the façade, as it was the first time I watched it so meticulously and I noticed few quirky decorations. Indeed, if you pay attention, under the ledge there are, alternate, rosettes within circles and funny angels' faces. The rest of the façade presents the usual statue embellishment and the classic medieval rose window.

Nowadays, the has been dedicated to the fallen ad it is a venue for contemporary exhibitions and festival such as Palinsesti, organised by San Vito municipality.
