Battlefield Blues is an interactive outdoor comedy performance, coming to Abbotsford Convent these September school holidays.

Presented as part of exciting Melbourne Fringe 2015 Kids Programme, Battlefield Blues is written and produced by the multi-talented and celebrated Claire Pearson, who was shortlisted twice for Queensland Young Playwright's Award.

This unique production, which is presented in the style of Monty Python with a twist of Horrible Histories and a dash of medieval warfare, sees chess pieces literally come to life!

Witness a chessboard in peril, as the beloved Queen suddenly goes missing and the lazy King takes another nap! It's up to the audience to help the noble Knight, Churny, save the Queen …. and the day!

As the adventure unfolds, audiences will meet the evil Maddington (the Bishop who wants it all), The Pawns (who don't have a thing at all) and the King (who likes making things 'official' because he's got it all!)

Battlefield Blues is performed in an immersive outdoor environment and is suitable for children aged 8 and above.

This anticipated school-holiday production is directed by Elizabeth Millington (Melbourne Theatre Company's Women Director's Program 2014, Melbourne International Comedy Festival, Poppy Seed Festival 2015) and features Jennifer B Ashley, Brierly Broad, Mitchell Brotz, Ella Kamer, Hamish Plaggemars, Kashmir Sinnamon, Benjamin Timms and Tim Wotherspoon.

Battlefield Blues will play at Abbotsford Convent from 22nd to 26th September and 29th September to 3rd October 2015. Performances will be held at 4pm daily, plus 2pm shows on Wednesdays and Saturdays.

Tickets can now be booked online: visit melbournefringe.com.au or call 9660 9666 now to avoid disappointment.

Tickets are priced $20 for Adults and $12.50 for Kids. Groups of 10 persons or more pay the discounted cost of $10 pp - for group bookings, please call 9660 9666.

Sounds like a fun drama. Shame it's not touring other states.
