Colour Box Studio presents a brand new craft workshop this October. The Bats of Leisure Embroidery Circle, taking place at Pozible Headquarters in Collingwood, will teach you how to embellish plain garments with beautiful artistic pieces to the best of your creative ability.
Bats of Leisure are a brother-sister creative duo Aaron and Aoife Billings that focus on creating handmade wearable art. The young team rebel against fast fashion and mindless capitalism, and instead use their creative flair to produce handmade clothing collections, run workshops, as well as collaborate with local artists to create films, music and installation work.
Aoife Billings, a self-taught clothing designer and maker, together with her creative sibling Aaron Billings, a printmaker and illustrator, instill an ethical and environmentally sustainable way of dressing and consuming.

The Bats of Leisure team will teach an array of embroidery and appliqué techniques depending on the designs you wish to achieve for your final piece.
There is absolutely no experience necessary, all levels are welcome, and there is no limit to your creativity.
The Bats of Leisure Embroidery Circle will run on 12 October 2014 from 2 - 5pm and cost $60. All materials will be provided including all the necessary embroidery threads, embroidery wheels, floss, needles, floss, and fabric/wool odds and ends.

You can bring a preferred item of clothing that you wish to embellish (the best fabrics for this are non stretch, heavy weight cottons or wool blends). Bats of Leisure will also provide fabric to embroider if you prefer.
