Swimming in the summer is for Australians what skiing is to Austrians in winter! When the warmer months arrive, beachgoers from near and far head to the shore, and a ton of swimming competitions are held accordingly. And best of all, for all the great events we've got going across Oz, all you need is your swimming gear and some sunscreen.
The inaugural Bathing Box Classic promises to be a fantastic day out. Presented by the local Brighton LSC, it will be held at the iconic Dendy Street Beach. This is the sort of event you'll attend the first year, and be back for every successive event year after year.
While originally due to have been held a couple of months early, bad weather prevented it from going ahead.
This is not only a wonderful way to swim in one of Melbourne's most beloved bays, but also put the finishing touches on the summer season in Australia.
Offering a 1.2km & 2.6km leg - and the chance to do both if keen - as well as the promise of much fun for competitors and spectators, this will be a great day out for all swimmers. Also, perhaps those happiest making sand castles and cheering a friend on from afar.
