If you are looking for a weekend of pristine beaches and a great relaxed atmosphere, the Central Coast is the place to be. Only a 1 hour and 20 minutes drive from Sydney CBD, my husband and I decided to escape the hustle of city life and chose to stay in Bateau Bay.
Bateau Bay is the ideal place for a Central Coast experience, with shops and beaches right at your door step. It is also just 6km from The Entrance, where the magnificent Tuggerah Lake meets the Pacific Ocean.
With many holiday resorts fully booked during the Christmas period, we were lucky to come across
Blue Lagoon Beach Resort. It is a gem and it is the perfect position to be in. If you own a tent like us, there are powered sites available at a reasonable cost.

It is only a few steps to the beach, where you can spend your time just listening to the waves and admiring nature. The camp facilities included a 25 metre heated outdoor pool, tennis, basketball and volleyball courts, BBQ areas, a cafe/shop for your convenience. So, if you need that daily coffee or that ice block to cool you down from the heat, you do not need to worry.

I love how I can just wake up and walk ten steps to the beach, and with only a handful of people there, you basically have the whole beach to yourself! If the sea is too cold for a swim, you can be like me and hop into the heated pool and still enjoy the water.

If you are bored and want to explore some shopping or markets, The Entrance is only a few minutes' drive away. We were there for The Entrance Farmers Market which is held on the 1st and 3rd Saturdays of the month from 8am to 1pm. I love their range of bread and organic produce as well as interesting arts and crafts for the home. Don't forget to enjoy some fish and chips and ice cream while you are there. There are also walks, restaurants, cafes, fishing, bike riding and more activities available so whether it is for business or leisure, there is something for everyone.
I can't wait to go back again while summer is still here!
