While the
Philatelic Museum Singapore Philatelic Museum celebrates the 75th anniversary of
Batman , the iconic Centennial Parklands in Sydney is bringing visitors to the creature that inspired the DC Comics Super Hero.
The Parklands will be hosting an early morning guided tour of the largest flying-fox colony in
Sydney for adults. While the grey-headed flying-fox is the most commonly seen
bat in the Sydney region, it is actually listed as a threatened species at state, federal, and international levels. With numbers declining year on year, it is estimated that the grey-headed flying-fox will be extinct in the wild in around 80 to 85 years.
Led by a Centennial Parklands Ranger and bat expert, you can learn about these fascinating creatures and their importance to the ecosystem. You can also watch as the large colonies roost in the trees for the day after a night of feasting on fruits and flowers. The tour commences at Parklands' Learning Centre and concludes at the Shelter Pavilion. Your tickets includes a free breakfast and binoculars. To book your tickets, visit the website.
Price: $25
Time: 7.30 am–9.30 am
