The menu has also undergone a facelift to offer a freshly prepared range of pub fare including salads, starters, burgers, sandwiches, pub classics and sweets; while the function menu offers more sophisticated canapés such as the mini wagyu burgers, prawns wrapped in katifi pastry, and my favourite, the chocolate and strawberry wontons.
One of Sydney's most famous pubs, the hotel is centrally located on the corner of South Dowling Street and Cleveland Street in Surry Hills.
Heritage listed, the pub was originally built in 1929 and named the Duke of Cleveland, and was a regular watering hole for local sporting clubs and organizations. It later changed its name to the Bat and Ball hotel, possibly to signify its proximity to the Sydney Cricket Ground and Sydney Football Stadium.
With its revitalised look and feel, and modern menu to match, the pub continues to deliver its charming atmosphere and is the perfect place to grab some drinks and food pre or post sports game.
