Room for superheros to stretch their wings at the bat park
It's great to find a suburban park that is rarely crowded and yet still has plenty on offer to keep the kids entertained. Calamvale's Bat Adventure Play Park is one of these places. What makes this park different though is its unique theme where families will be able to stretch their wings and where children's imaginations will fly.
After driving past Bat Adventure Play Park, the sign out the front was intriguing enough to make us stop in one morning. While we thought it might have something to do with the animal bat, we soon discovered that this quirky name had more to do with the famous comic character. Look out for the yellow and black 'bat' colours and the famous man himself in the park.
The main playground features a play structure boasting two-levels, slides, a bridge, scramble net, platforms, fireman's pole, climbing structures and games. Close by are swings and for the smaller kids there are two rocking animals. This area is surrounded by lovely gardens and seats so that parents can relax while watching their little super heroes save the day.
Batboys and Batgirls can make take flight on the duel hanging swinging arm. It doesn't look like much in the photo, but the kids had a blast pretending they were swooping in to rescue people as they swung around the platforms.
This park has plenty of open green space to kick a football, play chase, or run off some energy. A pathway winds through the park and has adjoining paths leading to other streets, making it a perfect place to bring a bike or scooter.
Pack a picnic lunch to enjoy under the shelter. There is even a barbeque here to refuel superhero-sized appetites.
Bat Adventure Play Park is located on Honeysuckle Way Calamvale. There is plenty of on-street parking available. The park is also accessible via other suburban streets thanks to connecting pathways. A Brisbane City Council bus stop is located at the entrance to the park.
Even though the park has lost some of its shine over the years, families will appreciate the spacious grounds and lack of crowds. So the next time you're looking for something different to do why not pack up your sidekicks and take the batmobile over to this park.
