Calling all lovers and players of the blues! Well it's on again, the Blues Association of South East Queensland's (BASEQ) annual Memphis Blues Challenge, and this year is set to be an event like no other. Come check out some of Queensland's finest blues bands and solo performers battle it out for the title and the chance to play at the International Blues Challenge in Memphis Tennessee.
The winning band/performer will be given the once in a lifetime chance to fly to the United States and compete against some of the finest blues performers in the world and showcase their talents in front of countless industry heavyweights that have the ability to turn a career from back shed bands to blues superstars. This highly prestigious blues event will be held on September 1st at the Mansfield Tavern on Wecker Rd and for all the musos, it's not too late to get your entries in. Nominations for blues acts that wish to take part in the competition close on July 15th so if you don't have any of your original tunes recorded, then it's time to get into that studio! BASEQ is a non-profit organisation that promotes blues in South East Queensland and gives blues musicians a place to create networks and promote their music and gigs to other musicians and fans alike. As well as their support in promoting blues musicians, they host regular jam sessions at various bars around the greater Brisbane area, allowing first timers and old pros the chance to have some fun and make some great music. Annual membership is just $25 for singles and $40 for families and gives you access to weekly email updates as well as 'The Groove' the monthly BASEQ newsletter chock full of news, reviews and CD launches.
