$10 Tapas Tuesdays
Hidden under the walkway to Queens Wharf and next door to Three Bears Kitchen, Basement Bar is a dark and sexy venue to kick back with friends. With a capacity of 60 patrons the bar is a small intimate and private space. There is also the option of outdoor seating if the interior feels too dark.
The Tuesday evening special of $10 tapas is a great option for a easy night out to catch up with friends and family. On weeknights the atmosphere is more laid back and casual with less people heading off to other venues after a cheeky cocktail or two. One word of warning, don't wear a stiped shirt unless you want to be mistaken for one of the staff.
We chose a selection of tapas including ricotta stuffed zucchini flowers, bread, dips & olives, kingfish carpaccio and chicken thigh sticks. Each dish was well presented and nicely spiced. It was great to sit and chat washing down our tasty tapas with a selection of beers and wines.
The menu is concise but has plenty of options for vegetarians as well as highlighting dishes that are gluten and/or dairy free. The chicken sticks was a particular favourite of my son who had trouble stopping at one bowl.
