Want people to laugh when you walk into the bar?
Thursday nights are better than the weekend and let me tell you why. From Friday afternoon weekends involve bleeding from the wallet and making poor choices while simultaneously failing to achieve anything with your freedom. Save yourself from such folly and head down to the Dog & Parrot Tavern on Thursday 7.30pm to enjoy easy laughs with a friendly crowd. Zero regrets my friends.
This venue has been running for over a year and the atmosphere is that of a cozy lounge room about to Netflix and chill except you are in a sports bar with strangers; it's the best of both worlds. The night offers you a slew of fresh comedians (read: sacrificial open micers) gently corralled by an experienced MC and each event finishes with a seasoned pro who will give you a solid gut ache from excess chuckles.
Matt Ford: pro comic, very good at it, sorry you missed it.
The stage sits against a wall and lots of high tables and stools are set up so you'll nearly always get a seat (especially if you arrive a bit early). The toilet and bar are well located so you don't need to walk through the performance space-- this is important if you don't want to be part of the act. If you do want to be part of the act, sign up here.
With a handy bar adjacent and delicious pub food brought to your table there is little reason to stay home and watch sub standard TV over a limp bowl of Mi Goreng. Grab some mates or wander down and do some sly creeping onto a table of hotties and let the mirth bring you together. You'll laugh, you'll cringe, you'll laugh again and you'll be back.
