Enjoy Cecil Hotel comfort while others stand-up (comedy)
Going out for a good time on the Gold Coast doesn't have to mean puking midori illusions down the front of your 'tighty whitey' or bandage dress- there are other options! Hear an original thought or two at the Based Comedy open mic night hosted by the Cecil Hotel, 730pm on Tuesdays! Forgo the regular Cavill DRAMAH and instead relax into an evening of balanced comedy from new performers and seasoned laugh merchants.
Based Comedy bring you FREE COMEDY because they just want you to be happy. The intimate venue has a variety of seating: clustered seating to accommodate groups or bar stools for lone wolves. Grab a pub meal to make a night of it! All acts get 10 minutes (the open mic standard is 5 minutes) which allows your performers to set up complex stories, interweave call backs or just hammer the laughs for a sidesplitting laugh decade. Comedy is a proven* abdominal exerciser so skip the gym and work your abs with gut-firming laughter**.
* I have no proof but seems legit.
** you have to laugh or fake laugh to get results. Or taser yourself to the stomach until abs appear.
Comedian Jimmy Mitchell is great abs and hot comedy; poster boy for the comedy workout.
Comics are needy, troubled people so come down with some mates and get perspective on your tough work week-- at least you aren't oversharing for lols! The crowd at the Cecil Hotel are friendly and keen to support the wins and fails of stand up comedy-- come and be part of the 'arts' or sign up to perform your own gear!
Much comedy. So comfort. Cecil stand up mic night-- WOW
