Barwon Heads Village Moonah Tree Forest Walk

After taking the kids for a play at Barwon Heads 'Pirate Park' playground, we decided to check out the walking track in the Moonah tree forest behind the playground.
There are several gated entrances around the bush area, and, as we discovered, several walking tracks that branch off and go in different directions. The kids loved being able to choose which path to take, and find out where it would lead us.
The forest area is beautiful, with a large number of Moonah trees and other vegetation. While Moonah trees are quite common around the Barwon Heads region, they are currently classified as endangered and
are protected under the Flora and Fauna Guarantee Act 1988.
The tracks are flat and well-maintained, so it's a great walking area for all ages. It's also a popular track for joggers and dog-walkers. There are wire fences throughout the area, to keep people from venturing into the bushland.
One thing I noticed immediately is that it's very quiet, and it feels quite secluded and 'hidden away' from the busyness of the streets and shopping areas of Barwon Heads.
There are no rubbish bins on the track, so you'll need to take any rubbish or bagged dog waste with you and dispose of it in the bins at the nearby playground or skate park.
Overall, it's a great walk, that's perfect for the kids.
