Barton's Motor Group on the city's bayside has opened a barber shop and hair salon in their car dealership, enabling customers to combine a wheel alignment with an up style or beard trim!Barton's managing director Mark Beitz said the motor industry was hit hard by the pandemic and the company had to look at new ways to retain and attract customers. "We were exploring ways to innovate and thinking about how we can help maximise our customers' time while waiting for their car to be serviced," he explained. "[i]Many people are time poor, so by combining services they can get a style cut, blow dry or shave before heading out to dinner[/i]."He said the response to has been overwhelming and it's attracting locals as well as customers.
The shop has two hairdressers with a combined 48 years' experience and does haircuts, blow dries, shaves and beard styling and caters to men, women, children, and pensioners.But Mr Beitz said the additional service was not just about revenue.
"It's about offering customers something special and different, and giving people a reason to visit us." Because of this the barber shop - which he emphasises also caters for women - has no single service above $35. "It's also about looking after our staff, who are offered discounts, and helping to create a sense of community across our local Wynnum Manly region." He said the concept has been so well received, there are now plans to open a barber shop in the company's Capalaba dealership by the end of the year.
