Our Sunday drive took us to Shellharbour Surf Club, where we walked north along the bike track towards Warilla.

The bike track hugs the coastline with a little bit of walking passed houses. While this section of the walk is only around 2km on this cooler summer's day, it was not busy at all which is refreshing compared to the hustle and bustle of the northern suburbs of the Illawarra.

Being a family from the northern suburbs of the Illawarra (Corrimal), we are only just discovering the beauty and tranquillity of the southern coastal suburbs.

The bike tracks, beaches and parks are not as busy but I am sure on the extremely hot days they would be. They also have tonnes of parking and loads of space to put down that picnic blanket.

When walking north, you have a view of Windang Island and can see all the way to the Steelworks. The southern end shows off Shellharbour and the escarpment.

It is a nice and peaceful place to visit.
