Here's one for the cheese fiends and those who enjoy a tipple with their tasting plate. A trip to Angaston in the Barossa Valley will delight you with many local goodies but there's one you shouldn't go past: "Barossa's Finest Experience" at the Barossa Cheese Co located in the main street.

In their words, through cheese, you're about to discover a new side to cider, a new cheer in beer, a new in to gin and exactly what's OK with tokay. It's a cheese tasting platter featuring 4 of their own amazing cheeses paired with something different - cider, beer, tokay (sweet fortified wine), and gin.

Once you sit down at their outdoor area on the front verandah, surrounded by young citrus trees in planter boxes, your freshly made cheese platter will arrive in front of you. Four cheeses are arranged delicately with a scattering of toasted crispy lavosh crackers and a few slices of fresh apple as a palate cleanser between each cheese.

Four tall shot glasses are then filled with the accompanying beverages: refreshing pear cider (Barossa Cider Co)hoppy pale ale beer (Greenock Brewers)ich syrupy Grand Tokay dessert wine (Seppeltsfield) * a unique gin (Seppeltsfield Road Distillers)

As you can see, the focus is heavily local, as the company prides itself on supporting a wide range of local community groups and platforms in Angaston and surrounding areas.

You'll then work your way through the cheese & beverage pairings enjoying a whole lot of flavour explosions - and don't be scared to mix and match them to see what works!

You can also choose a Cheese & Tea platter, or a classic Cheese & Wine matching.

After your tasting experience, head inside to wander through the Cheese Cellar - open since 2003 and expanded in 2015 into making more retail products. The Cheese Cellar offers a huge assortment of tasty goods: dozens of cheese products, gourmet condiments, crackers, crispbreads, cheese biscuits, dried fruits & legumes, fruit pastes, chocolates, olives, jams, relishes, honey, pate, dukkah, liqueurs, coffee, tea, oils & vinegars.... the list is exhaustive and you'll have trouble walking away empty-handed!

The shop makes a great gifting place too as there are plenty of items like wooden boards, cheese knives, serving dishes, tea infusers, and plenty of bits that would make an excellent gift hamper. While browsing you can watch a live stream on the big screen of the cheesemakers working away in the production facilities attached.

But it doesn't stop at the shop - visitors can pick up a Cheese & Wine Trail hamper bag and go on an adventure visiting a few nearby wineries to enjoy a DIY wine & platter experience. Or, try a masterclass or private group tasting (eg. corporate functions), or a made-to-order cheese wheel tower for weddings and special occasions.

Stop in to taste something new, and load up on the good stuff while you're there to get your pantry ready for all those spring and summer platters.
