The focus of the 2014 festival is expected to be very much on emerging filmmakers whose intent is solely on the entertainment of the audience in a manner reflective of the Barossa. People are encouraged to bring their own chairs or beanbags, sit around, drink beer or wine, eat popcorn and pizza and have fun. The intent is to be as divergent from a cinema as possible.
With average film lengths of around 10 minutes, this enables people to come and go as they please. For those who stay, there are opportunities to watch a few films at the same venue, followed by some often animated discussions with friends and filmmakers afterwards about the films. Typically the films come from all parts of the world, thus providing an infusion of culture in to the Barossa.
The festival starts at the iconic Chateau Tanunda on Friday, November 28 with a long table lunch from noon until 230pm ($60 per head). And then from 2.30pm until 5pm, there is a mix of thriller and horror films on display inside the winery's Barrel Hall Dungeon.
Later that evening, the Festival continues at the Tanunda Clubhouse where people can enjoy the retro scene in the Clubhouse Lava Lounge where retro TVs will fill the air with music clips and there will be food, wine and beer readily available for purchase. The comedy night will then kick off at 7.30pm until 11pm, and includes an action and adventure feature.
Saturday night sees the Festival make its way to Barossa Valley Brewing where there will be a Buzz Night tiki torch party from 6pm until 10.30pm with films screened on the lawn. And to wrap up the weekend, Tanunda Clubhouse will be the place to be on Sunday, November 30, where there will be awards and after party recovery day from 2pm.
