The Barossa Farmers' Market is held every Saturday morning from 7.30 to 11.30 am. You will find the Vintners Sheds where the markets are held on the corner of Nuriootpa and Stockwell Roads at Angaston.
The Vinters Sheds
You know you're in the right vicinity by the build up of traffic and people attracted to this busy gourmet market.
The experience starts on the outside of the sheds where market umbrellas shade the stallholders' produce and your senses start working overtime taking in all the surrounding sights and aromas.
Stallholders outside have outstanding fresh fruit and vegetables to buy and seedlings to get your own vegetable garden up and running as well as bunches of fresh flowers to buy.
On entering the sheds you will find over 50 stalls with everything from the expected preserves, pickles and sauces, olives and oils as well as home-made pastries, cakes, fudge, chocolate and biscuits. There are small goods, breads, dairy and honey. With so much to look at, it is worth having a first look around before heading around again to buy what you've decided on. You can also take a break to enjoy a market burger for breakfast with a coffee or herbal infused tea.
Oh the choices!
Not only are the markets a great place for locals to buy fresh produce weekly, but it's a great tourist attraction to show visitors the gourmet goodies the region has to offer.
It's a wonderful place to start a day trip to the Barossa. Pick up some supplies for a picnic lunch before heading to some nearby wineries.
