The Rex - Barossa Aquatic Fitness

Whether you are a visitor to the Barossa Valley region for the Tour Down Under or wine tasting, or maybe you live here, if you are in the area with young children who are hot and eager to do something fun, then you can't go past The Rex Centre in Tanunda.

The Rex Centre is the Barossa's newest fitness and recreation Centre catering for many sporting activities, but what impressed me was the facilities for young families at the pools.

The kids pool has a sloping entry, which means toddlers can safely sit within a few millimetres of the water and splash around with their carers, and older children can safely and gradually walk into the water.

The water is shallow at one end with plenty of room to move and there are two fountains for the children to walk and play in. At the other end, it is deep enough for my seven year old to jump in but van easily be touched at the bottom. There is also a spa section, where the kids and I could sit and relax.

The complex is fitted out with clean change rooms, showers near the pool to wash off and change tables poolside, so parents can easily deal, with their children's needs.

Afterwards, why not grab a coffee and a snack at the cafe.

The Rex Centre is open every day of the week, closing at 5pm weekends, 9 pm on weekdays, except Friday, when they close at 7 pm.
