Silvanís hidden treasure
Having spent a great deal of this week in the city watching some brilliant comedy at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival, we decided to spend a relaxing day in Silvan. The Yarra Valley has some wonderful hidden treasures and The Barn Owl Cafe in Silvan is one of them.

Rustic looking cafe

The cafe opened around six months ago when its owner Katie converted a shed into a boutique cafe. The restaurant has evolved over the last six months and is now licensed and with the addition of live music, it's a great place for Sunday sippers. You will need to check beforehand to see if they have live music on your intended date to visit.

The food is the next step and not only looks great but tastes fantastic too. While obviously a lot of this has to do with the wonderfully talented chefs, the fact that much of the produce is grown on and around the premises is definitely a big drawcard.

The cafe's pet chooks provide the cafe with eggs so whether you prefer scrambled, boiled, poached or fried you know you will get the freshest of fresh.

The cafe's menu shows the staff at Barn Owl cafe have great knowledge about flavour and how to pair different foods together to make your mouth water. A great little cafe worth a visit or two.
