Fashion make-over tour a the Queen Victoria Market

One of my favourite tours of Victoria Market is the Insider's Tour because you get to see another side of the market. All those special items, and indeed those flamboyant stallholders you might simply miss if you were just wandering aimlessly around on your own.

Now there is a special tour for fashion lovers.

On May the 4th Cheryl Lin, who is making a name for herself as a fashion blogger, is leading the Insider's Tour and letting you in on some fashion secrets and where they reside along the busy aisles of the Queen Vic.

Lin writes the fashion blog BusinessChic which gives you ideas on what to wear in the workplace from corporate wear to sharp business casual.

Famously Lin, who has a day job in finance as an auditor, spots well dressed corporates on the street, photographs them with their permission (although, who wouldn't feel honoured) then blogs about their attire. She does a break down of what they are wearing and why it works so well.

She also famously wore a LBD (little black dress) once a week for 52 weeks, accessorising it differently each time for a completely new look.

Her photos resulted in an exhibition at Melbourne Central during Melbourne Fashion Week called The Little Black Dress Project.

"I work in an office in the finance industry and find it so handy to have a wardrobe essential like the LBD which I can accessorise to make appropriate for just about any occasion work throws at me!" says Lin.

She has also written the LBD Project Book which is a useful fashion reference on on how a simple dress can be transformed through creative and colourful accessorising, layering and fashion ingenuity. This useful book has a foreword by Sarah Gale, a former Project Runway judge.

"Working women are a busy lot' she says "so I wanted to share a years worth of ways that I think a LBD can be accessorised for meetings, work conferences and the all-important work-to-drinks, to make getting dressed for work simpler."

Now she is running this special one-off Market Insider Shopping Tour, which is full of fashion tips for men, women and children, as well as perhaps giving you some much needed ideas for the forthcoming Mothers' Day.

Lin promises that she will be "sharing the stylish stall holders offering great value for fashionistas who also enjoy good cheese, wine and borek!"

If you can't make this tour don't fret as the The Market Insider Shopping Tour runs every Saturday from 10am - 12.30pm. It is always full of colourful characters and interesting peeks at behind the scenes in our famous markeplace.
