This fall the City Island Theatre Group is presenting Barefoot in the Park from Neil Simon's play in 1963. It became a movie in 1967, starring Robert Redford and Jane Fonda. My daughters and I went to the play last night, on the second night of the production.

With a total of six in the cast (four main characters), it made a perfect comedy/double love-story with morals. The characters are funny and the dialogue is smart.
It's the story of young newlyweds coming back to reality after their juicy honeymoon; the mom (just adorable and hilarious) looking for a way to live on after her daughter getting married and moving out; the strange neighbor from the attic who becomes a perfect blind date. Let me also mention the other two characters, the telephone guy and the delivery guy, who added a lot of seasoning to the play. I don't want to give away too much because this production is not to miss.
The play is suitable for everyone. It will make a wonderful night out for a couple of all ages or a mother and daughter date. There are also many nice restaurants on City Island for your pre or post theatre bites. The play runs for two hours with a 15-minute intermission. The theatre is comfortable and cozy and the staff are very friendly. Beverages and cookies are for sale during the 15-minute intermission.
The tickets are $15 each if you call to reserve or $18 at the door.
There are three more performances to catch: November 21 at 8pm November 22 at 8pm
