But a little background first. StarCraft is a video game with its first version released in early 1998. Since then it has sold more than 11 million copies, and released several expansions and a sequel.

StarCraft is played competitively across the globe, and some of the particularly talented earn enough money from this to make a living. If this is making very little sense to you, fear not. It makes very little sense to many people.
The Paragon Hotel (corner of Loftus & Alfred St, Circular Quay) holds a Barcraft for StarCraft finals. Similar to heading to a bar to see a game on the big screen, Barcraft allows you to have a few drinks and watch the finals, or even have a go at StarCraft yourself.
I'd like to stress that you do not need to be a StarCraft player, or even a gamer, to attend and enjoy yourself. The atmosphere is euphoric, and with 800 geeks in attendance, it's definitely a fantastic experience.
The next Barcraft will be on May 19th, with the finals starting at 7:10pm. If you're just there to soak up some nerd culture, probably head in a bit later when things are really getting exciting.
Barcraft will be held at the Paragon Sports Bar. More information and the Facebook event here.
Note: if you're interested in the game itself, you can try it out for free here).
