Help us save the street dogs of Bali is the motto of BARC (Bali Animal Rescue Centre).

BARC is a non-profit organisation which works to rescue, rehabilitate and rehome the street dogs of Bali.

They aim to relieve the suffering, starvation, abuse and neglect of the Bali street dogs, coupled with care, community awareness and education.



Many people come to Bali for a vacation and are surprised by the number of street dogs they see and the poor health condition many of them are in, yet feel powerless to assist in any way.

Actually, this is only the tip of the iceberg and may not show the vast problem that faces Bali with the street dogs at present.

I visited BARC last week and they currently had over 350 rescue dogs and puppies just from Ubud alone. In the space of 30 minutes another 11 dogs were brought in. They are pushed to capacity with just a handful of volunteer & staff working on this monumental undertaking.



Perhaps you would like to do something to assist whilst you are on vacation? There are several ways you can help BARC and this amazing job they are constantly doing. They are always in need of donations of money, medical supplies and dog supplies. Towels and blankets are in constant demand so, perhaps when you are packing for your vacation you could bundle up some old towels or blankets and bring them over with you to donate.

The good part of this is that you will be making a difference here and also emptying your suitcase, allowing you to take home more souvenirs.



You can also visit BARC in Ubud and see these lovely dogs and puppies.

They have a second hand store with all proceeds assisting the care of these dogs. You can bring items to donate to their store. Western clothing is always in high demand, especially brand name clothing.

If you wish to donate food for the dogs this is always gratefully accepted and just down from BARC is a store that is also run by them, supplying reasonably priced dog food. You can simply make a donation or pop down and purchase whatever you would like and bring it up to BARC rescue centre. All donations of any kind are always gratefully received.

You could contact vets for medical donations or perhaps fundraise in your area, school or office and bring over some donations.
