In their darkest hour, show your support and light the way
The Leukemia Foundation's 'Light The Night' is now in it's tenth year of bringing communities together to remember and reflect on those who have been diagnosed with blood cancer. Last year, more than 35,000 got involved at 143 events across Australia with the events spread out in every major city and territory. This year, on October 6th all Australians are invited to donate and show their support to such a worthy cause.

'Light The Night' is an evening that brings families and friends together to celebrate and reflect on those who have passed away or are currently struggling with the disease. It is an amazing event that raises money for the families - in turn giving them support in a practical and also emotional way.

In Sydney, the venue for 2017's event will be on the Walumil Lawns at Barangaroo Reserve. The event will begin at dusk, with guests of the event invited to light their lanterns. Guests can carry one of three coloured lanterns; Gold - to remember a loved one, White - for their own journey or Blue - to show that you care. As mentioned earlier, there is also a beautiful ceremony put on by the foundation to help people reflect and show families and/or individuals that they don't have to fight this battle in the dark or alone.

The event will run from 5:30pm until 8:30pm on Friday the 6th of October, 2017. It is free to join in on the ceremony and enjoy all the entertainment put on by the Leukemia Foundation - however please register your interest to carry a lantern here as the group do require numbers for the night.

Every year, the Leukemia Foundation helps more than 750 regional families in Australia reach better services and get the support that they need during their difficult times. It's an alarming statistic that every day 35 Australians will be diagnosed with blood cancer. If you can set aside your evening on this one day of the year - it really is a fantastic way to give back and support those who shouldn't have to go through this tough time feeling as though they're alone.
