I like to participate in life rather than be a spectator. Music, dancing, theatre, travelling, food, cycling and walking are some of my passions. Writing is an enjoyable pastime that allows me to share my experiences.
Delicious Middle Eastern flavours in a casual al fresco setting can be had at Bar Tikram. The casual ambiance of the outdoor setting evokes the feeling of sharing a family meal. Chef Dany Karam takes inspiration from the flavours of his Lebanese mother's cooking. The food is full of flavour with interesting combinations of ingredients and is perfect for sharing. The sweet/sour pop of pomegranate was a fresh contrast to the smoked eggplant in the gluten-free, Smokey Moutabal which was served with wood fired bread and house made pickles. The fish with spiced tahini (Samke Harra) was a very interesting and tasty dish that we had not tried previously.
The menu may seem small with only fifteen dishes but it is full of great value tasty treats. Seven of the dishes are free of gluten and ten dishes would be suitable for vegetarians. For those with more time to spend, the set menu at $55 per person is a good value option to try their family style food. Drinks include some interesting cocktails, wine, beer, cider, soft drinks and a range of spirits.
