Get seen and get into the scene
I went to Bar Nacional with some friends on a Friday night to partake in their well-known tapas delights.
We had to book ahead because Bar Nacional and particularly its watering hole gets packed with Friday night office workers cutting loose with a drink or two.
We were served by some pretentious wait staff but we didn't have to wait long for our tapas. The serves were moderate but the mixing of flavours interesting.
The really social thing about tapas is that as you are all sampling the same bite sized pieces everyone has an opinion, which is a great conversation starter. Plus the wine and beer list is pretty extensive.
On the tapas menu we tried the choricito with cider, onion and parsley, sardines with tomato, lemon on grilled bread, chicken liver parfait with quince on brioche and the roast mushrooms with aniseed cream and poached egg. I know, fancy stuff but kind of fun, so if you are looking to try some new favour sensations give the Friday night tapas a go.
