in Mollymook is the perfect, casual date night down the NSW South Coast. Overlooking the Pacific Ocean from upon the cliff tops of Mollymook, the location is a prime illustration of the Australian seaside landscape, where the bush meets the sea.

Walking into the bar, we are immediately greeted by wooden decking, matching pool chairs, and an illuminated azure infinity pool. The trees surrounding the property have been groomed just enough to preserve the view of the ocean rolling in far below, without hindering the natural beauty of the gum trees.

Although the building has been renovated over the years to a 4.5 star standard, the original 1970s feel of the architecture is palpable. The Pool Bar décor has a plush, resort-feel: plenty of geometric print cushions, earthy tones and circular wooden features. Warm lighting is complemented by the heaters, radiating like sunshine, and the wintry night outside is soon forgotten.

Although a balmy summer's night with sunset views would be ideal, even during a winter's Monday night, the resort offers more than just picturesque views: one gourmet stone-fired pizzas and two glasses of beer or wine for only $30 is a cheap and easy dinner date. The bar offers a large selection of pizza – ranging from Tandoori Chicken to Roast Pumpkin and Pinenuts – and the meals arrive very quickly.

The only drawback to the dining experience is the small dessert option centering on ice cream and sorbet – unfortunately not seasonally appropriate. Overall, a lovely night out for dinner, regardless of the season, with the option to spend the night in the luxury upstairs accommodation.
