South Melbourne has a new monthly market, with the team at South Melbourne Commons recently launching the Bank Street Market.

The market runs on the third Saturday of every month (check here to confirm upcoming dates), on the corner of Bank and Montague Streets from 10am 2pm. It's an all-weather market with both indoor and outdoor stalls.

With a focus on handmade and vintage items, the market offers a selection of fashion, jewellery, kids' stuff and homewares, and is great for interesting and quirky gifts.

The first market on March 17th was a resounding success with live music, food and a good community atmosphere.

Stallholder highlights include:

Clothing
Skirts in interesting fabrics from Sheesh Handmade, women's clothing in bold prints from Alice Loves, hats and accessories from Zippity Knits and vintage fashion items (including a good selection of denim and shoes) at a number of other stalls.

Jewellery
Funky items from Vinyl Cuts who produce necklaces, cuffs and bands made from old vinyl records, Japanese inspired jewellery from Little House of Kokeshi, and cute brooches, cufflinks and earrings from Rainbow Lollies.

Homewares and Gifts
An eclectic offering of homewares includes crockery, glassware and some great gift ideas like journals produced using old hardcover books (by Found n Bound), and attractive mini-terrariums from Glasslands.

Children
There's a decent selection for young ones, with funky childrens accessories from Naughts and Crosses, costumes from Elgans Emporium, and a couple of other stalls with adorable kids clothing.

Skincare products are also on offer, including Skin Crusaders, an all-natural skincare company who claim to have the mildest soap on earth.

The Bank Street Market team promises much more to come, so it's worth checking their website for details of specific stallholders on upcoming market dates.

If you want to get involved, the market has indoor and outdoor stalls available from $30 - $45 each.
