Summer days are for sipping on cocktails by the riverbank - where better place to do this than
BangPop ? Open for business 7 days/week, with easy QR code check-in, order, and payment, all you have to do is sit back and relax.
This brightly coloured, fun Thai restaurant is located on South Wharf Promenade and has a delectable menu comprising snacks, salads, and wok, rice, curry, and specialty dishes. All smelled delicious as they were delivered to nearby seated diners but my eyes were on the cocktail menu; the food review will wait for another time.
While bookings are preferred, we walked-in and our luck secured us a table outdoors, overlooking the water. The online cocktail menu as colourful as the decor, with tantalising options labelled with names appropriate to the drink. What a choice - South Wharf Dragon with a vodka fire-breather mix; Crouching Tiger an exotic combination of spice and sweet; and of course, the regular favourites for those who prefer something familiar.
[BREAK]
Our highly recommended selections: Passionfruit Mojito, served tall with freshly squeezed lime with sugar and mint, shaken with passionfruit and Havana Club Rum. Strong rum and passionfruit flavours, with a subtle kick of red hot fiery chilli, is sure to excite.
Thaigerlily, served in a 70's cocktail glass, made with Beefeater Gin, Cointreau, passionfruit & pineapple. The mix is refreshing and light and one of those drinks that go down like a fruity mocktail - be warned!
We're returning for Ginger Boy and Crouching Tiger!
Great service, and fun atmosphere. There are many sparrows flying about and happily perching on your chair, so watch your drink.
