The Bangkok Comedy Club started out a couple of years ago in room above a pub, once a week on Friday nights. Before this the Bangkok comedy scene was a bit hit and miss with occasional shows in a variety of places across the city.
Shows alternate between Stand up one week and Improv the next, with special events on other nights. Special events with touring comedians are very popular and often sell out well in advance but for the normal Friday night shows you can get tickets at the door. Prices start at around 350 Baht or 500 Baht on the door. There are some terrific local comedians and very talented local amateurs on show, and the hosts, Chris and Drew, are true professionals.
The Club operates from a private room, upstairs at the Royal Oak Pub which is at: 595/10 Sukhumvit 33/1, Khlong Tan Nuea, Watthana, Bangkok 10110, Thailand
They also run stand up and improv workshops, so if you feel inspired by the show you can give it a shot yourself. The Bangkok comedy scene is very fluid, and this is the only permanent club in the city, so it's very popular and well worth a visit. Visit the club's
