Looking for some action or adventure, or perhaps some inspiration or aspiration? Or maybe you are just wanting to see some of the most spectacular and remote landscapes across this fantastic globe. If this is you, then get yourself down to the local cinema, strap yourself in, and be prepared for the best two hours of short films that the crew from the
Banff Mountain Film Festival can offer.
The
Banff Mountain Film Festival is one of the world's most prestigious international film competition featuring an annual presentation of short films and documentaries about mountain culture, sports, and environment. It was first launched 40 years ago as the
Banff Festival of Mountain Films and has become renown for launching the careers of many a filmmaker and an adventure seeker.
Approximately 375 films are entered into the film festival annually, with the international film festival jury having the tough job of choosing the best films and presenting awards in various categories including best films on mountain sport, mountain environment, mountain culture, exploration, adventure and more.
And it is from these award winners that a selection of films and clips are amalgamated into a program of over 2 hours of thought provoking and inspirational films with subject matter ranging from remote landscapes and cultures to adrenaline packed action sports.
