On this date the runners of Bandung will adopt the following slogan 'The other day I ran for many reasons, but on the 29th of September 2019 I will run for the love of the city.' And best of all there's still time for you to join them.
On a side note, for some reason, the website didn't work very well from my computer but worked perfectly well when accessing it from the Facebook site.
If you've not visited Bandung before then you may be surprised to hear that it's regarded as a weekend getaway location for people living in Jakarta. Situated 700 metres above sea level, it has a cooler climate and plenty of green, well-kept parks and tree-lined roads. This makes it a wonderful place to explore during the city run.
You can choose either the 10k or 5k option and either way the cut off time is 120 minutes, so not too much pressure there. And as you can see from the picture it's a real family affair with children in buggies and competitors of all ages getting involved.
When you've secured your place you simply need to exchange your e-receipt for your race bag on the day. Inside the race bag, you'll receive a timing chip, bib numbers, a medal and t-shirt to run in. As you can see from last year the theme was blue and most people chose to run in it.
With plenty of water stops along the way and the start and finish point both being the same area, near the City Hall in the centre of Bandung, it's an easy enjoyable course.
If you complete the run this year then why not sign up for the 2020 event also. There's a running theme (pardon the pun) with the medals you collect. Each year you get a letter from the word Bandung. So last year the medal was in the shape of the letter B and this year it's an A shaped medal.
And finally, if you decide not to join the race this year but are in the area, the runners will always be grateful for your support.
Drop me a comment if you're racing and I'll keep an eye out for you and cheer you on.
