Free concert at Roma Street Parkland
Save the date. Brisbane's Bands in Parks series' signature event is set to be spectacular with a free, all-ages concert featuring Jessica Mauboy.
Presented by Brisbane City Council, Bands in Parks provides free music in public parks throughout Brisbane. Featuring musicians and bands including brass, pipe, and steel, these musical showcases are a wonderful way to spend the weekend.
Pack a picnic and head to the Roma Street Parkland for this one-off special concert on Sunday, May 5, from 2pm until 5pm. Performing at the parkland's amphitheatre in the heart of Brisbane's CBD, Brisbane Excelsior brass band will kick start the concert before Australia's shining star Jessica Mauboy takes the stage.
Jessica, who grew up in Darwin, has come a long way since she was the runner-up on the fourth series of Australian Idol in 2006. As a singer and songwriter she has received twelve ARIA Music Award nominations winning 'Highest Selling Single' for "Running Back". She is also an accomplished actress having starred in Bran Nue Dae (2010) and The Sapphires (2012). She currently appears on Channel Nine's The Voice as a mentor on Ricky Martin's team.
