Balmoral Beach

Home > Sydney > Beaches | Walks
Published October 15th 2009
Located in the eastern side of Mosman suburb, Balmoral Beach is a popular destination for a beautiful family outing. The suburb actually has 2 beaches, Balmoral beach and Edwards Beach which are seperated by an island called 'Rocky Point Island'. Both beaches together are more often referred to as just Balmoral beach.

This crescent shaped beach hosts a stretch of restaurants, beautiful houses, expensive yachts, a shark net swimming area and a golden sandy beach. For an ideal picnic spot, you can just walk upto Rocky Point Island which is accessible by a stone foot bridge. This island and the Balmoral Rotunda structure are also popular wedding destinations so don't be surprised to see a beautiful bride and her groom walking up to the island. The Balmoral Rotunda is the home of Shakespeare By The Sea, a summer outdoor event performed here. Another event held here every year is the Mudgee Food and Wine Fair in which the winemakers of Mudgee bring their wine to Balmoral Beach.

In case you are interested a little bit of adventure, you can hop onto the walking trail from Balmoral to Chowder Bay. This starts at Balmoral Oval and stretches up to 1.5 kms with captivating harbour views and lookouts.

Balmoral beach an ideal place for a quick swim and takeaway fish and chips or a lovely walk at sunset. In fact, its the type of beach where you can take your rollerblades, dog, bike, sailboard and football, or just a picnic basket and enjoy a fun day outdoors.
