A peaceful place for the kids, with coffee for the oldies
Balmaringa Reserve is tucked away behind South Turramurra Shops on the corner of Balmaringa Avenue and Auluba Road, South Turramurra. It is a great park for parents and kids alike.

Firstly and most importantly there are two options for coffee and food at the shops (the bakery and a new swish café), so a big tick for parents and for hungry kids. There is also plenty of street parking or you can park at the shop.

Then there is the lovely and peaceful setting. The park has a lot of trees and shrubs and quiet places for everyone to sit and relax. The park has been designed to incorporate natural aspects of play including stepping stones, rocks, a grassy mound (great for bikes!) and gardens all around. There are several picnic tables and some bench chairs.

When we were there, there was also a friendly cockatoo who hung around in the treetops watching the activity below.

And to cater for those emergency moments, there are several toilet options. You can use the toilets at the BP service station or a quick walk across the road you will find relatively decent toilets at the oval. The oval is also a nice place for kids to have a run around if they need to burn off some energy.

The equipment is also a winner with options for all ages – from baby swing to a fort with a climbing rock wall and rope climb. There are a couple of different slide and swing options suitable for various ages and a great bike track, which the kids whizzed around on bikes and scooters. The grassy mound was also popular with the daring bike riders.

With the added bonuses of a water bubbler (which the kids loved), plenty of shade and a fence that encloses the area, this park is worth checking out.
