It's almost Christmas and before we begin the feasting and festivities, there's just one more fun fitness event for you to attend, the Balmain Fun Run on Sunday 1 December 2013.

As one of Sydney's much-loved community events, the Balmain Fun Run encourages and promotes fitness for the children, families and community all the while having lots of fun. So why not challenge yourself and encourage others to register for this wonderful event?

The course starts and finishes in the stunning King George Park, Rozelle, and will take you through the extraordinarily gorgeous, undulating waterfront parkland - Callan Park. There are three different events available for you to register, which are all pram friendly.

For primary school children (up to and including year 6), the 2km run/walk is just right for you. This starts at 9.30am and it doesn't matter how fast or slow you are, just participate and it'll be great. Parents are very welcome to accompany their children (for free) on this mainly flat and downhill course. See the map of the course here .

Starting at 8.10am, the 5km is perfect for anyone and everyone who likes to run or walk. There will be a drink station at the 2.5km mark to keep you going until the end. The course map is available here . Furthermore, if you are up for a challenge, then the 10km run is just the thing. Starting at 8am, the run involves two laps of the 5km course and a map can be obtained here . Various drink stations are also available on this course.

What's more, the 100m Porte a Partner Dash will be debuting this year at 10am. This fun race will require you to carry another adult in whichever way you want. Carry them on your shoulders, piggy back that special someone, or any other ways you can think of. Just make sure you are the first to cross the finish line for that fantastic prize. Registrations are absolutely free and this can be done on the day. It may not be for you, but stick around after the race to witness this fabulous spectacle.

Registrations are open now and make sure you do it before Friday 22 November to receive that discounted price. To register or check the prices, click here . Lots of free parking spots are available on Manning Street as well as the residential streets nearby.

On top of all the races, don't forget to stick around after the run for some family fun. Heaps of free activities including bouncy castles, pony rides, make your own craft sessions, face painting and whack a rat will be there for everyone to enjoy. To cure those hunger pains, a BBQ, cake stall, free fruit and coffee will be there on hand to solve those problems. And most importantly, relax at the Waff Zone or get a massage to relieve those muscle pains.

So gather the troops, spread the word and prepare for this brilliant community event.
