Here is a great opportunity if you are over 65 years or over 50 for Aboriginal and Torres Straight Islanders to get out, meet a lot of new people, enjoy yourself and get a bit of exercise into the bargain. Every Monday, from 11.00am until 1.00pm, the EACH Social Activity Groups offer an opportunity to get together with others like yourself to trip the light fantastic with ballroom dancing lessons at the Wynnum Municipal Hall, 221 Bay Terrace, Wynnum.
Entry to all the fun is $5 which includes morning tea.
Men, it is most important for you to get yourself into the merriment. The classes are currently enjoyed by a lot more ladies than men and the poor fellows attending are getting worn out as they move from lady to lady – they're not getting any younger you know! Unfortunately, I can't go because I'm too young (you don't know how long I've waited to say that).
You're never too young to learn new dance steps
Ladies, if you know of any men you can rope into sharing a good morning out on the dancefloor gather them up and bring them along with you. The more the merrier, as they say, and it really applies in this case.
Care homes are also welcome to organise residents who would like to join in; especially if you can provide some additional 'man' power.
Think how wonderful Mondays will be. Just like being back at school trying to learn all those different dances in time for the Senior Formal. Or, better still, when you used to head off up to Cloudland and glide across the bouncing, springy dancefloor. And then, at the end of it all, there's morning tea – what a way to spend the day!
There's even more than dancing so come along and join in
