I will only write about places that I've had a great experience. There are so many local heroes around Adelaide and I want to try and share them all.

Ballerina is about following your heart and your dreams - take that leap and doors will open for you. The story follows our heroine Félicie (voiced by Elle Fanning from Maleficent) who has a heart that yearns to dance, she is supported by her best friend Victor (Dane DeHaan) who has dreams of his own, to one day become a world famous inventor.

We're first introduced to Félicie's bright and vivacious character, while she and Victor are living in the glum surrounds of their Brittany orphanage. We soon find out that not even their less than ideal living situation will break Félicie's spirit.

Once Victor brings to Félicie's attention the existence of the school at the Opera De Paris, the two know in their heart of hearts that Paris is where they need to be.

To escape the orphanage and begin their journey, the duo must take a literal 'leap of faith', as want-to-be inventor, Victor's grand escape plan involves his first invention-chicken wings. While the friends stand on the orphanage roof, Victor reveals his chicken wings contraption to Félicie, who then reveals to Victor that chickens don't in-fact fly, but with the orphanage headmaster hot on their heels, Victor's Chicken wings are now the only option of escaping the orphanage walls.

After the orphanage headmaster put up a good but unsuccessful chase, fate brings our heroine and her sidekick to their intended destination - the city of lights, every artist's dream, the city that played home to some of the greatest creative minds of all time, Paris! The beautiful Parisian architecture is animated beautifully and is the backdrop to the main part of the story. Soon after they arrive, we're introduced to Victor's clumsiness, as he falls off a bridge, which causes the two to be separated. Victor falls into a passing boat and as he's driven away calls out to Félicie to meet him back in the same spot at the same time tomorrow; this is when our wishful starlet takes centre stage on our screen.

We follow Félicie as she follows her dreams, meeting various characters along the way, including her rival Camille Le Haut (voiced by Maddie Ziegler - dancer, singer model, best known for her performance in Sia's Chandelier video clip). Ziegler's character is cast as a snobby and bratty child of privilege. The movies 'villain' is a 'stage-mum' who in her second to last appearance had a striking resemblance to Kris Jenner/Kardashian. Plus numerous other fitting characters, most importantly her unassuming and mysterious mentor, Odette (Carly Rae Jepson).

Upon being separated from Félicie, Victor finds himself a job as an assistant to the assistant of Gustave Eiffel, during the building of the Eiffel Tower. The main story revolves around Félicie's journey, yet Victor is peppered in there as a supporting role while he chases his own dream.

A great role model to inspire us to follow our dreams, Félicie perseveres through adversities and challenges and finds her strength to face a bully. She keeps working towards her greatest dream, to be a ballerina.

Does she make it? Does this little orphan girl, find her sense of home and belonging, does she fulfil her dream? I won't spoil the film, but I will say it's a real feel-good story with a happy ending.
