A special walk celebrating our heritage

The Ballardong Noongar Six Seasons Garden Walk is a very special place. Created in conjunction with the local Ballardong Noongar community, it is constantly evolving but already a place of beauty, knowledge and respect.

The winding walk takes you through native species containing their Noongar, botanic and common names. My kids particularly loved searching the rocks for the different animals that are carved into them which depict the six seasons and special animals.

The garden itself is only a short walk so it is suitable for young and old alike, however, every time you walk it I guarantee you will find something new and unique.

The thing I love about this garden is that you can take the children and each time all of you will build on your knowledge and respect of both the Ballardong Noongar people and the land we are on.

Maybe the first time you just notice the animals and the trees but the next time you start to take in the symbolic stone camp circles representing local Noongar families.

Whether you are visiting York for one of the great attractions or festivals or just looking for a great day trip, make sure to visit this special place and spend some time here.
