The annual Ballarat Vegan Festival will run over a four-day period from 10 to 13 January 2019. This annual event supports a vegan lifestyle, some of the events include an exhibition, market, walk and picnic.
You're An Animal art exhibition at the Backspace Gallery is open daily from 12.00pm until 4.00pm. The exhibition aims to encapsulate the universality of animal kind and the concept that we are all part of the same ecosystem. By treating all living creatures with respect and kindness, we celebrate our own humanity and potential. Andy Meddick from Animal Justice Party will be guest speaker.
A twilight market featuring various vegan food, drinks, merchandise, products, and AR stalls will be held on 12 January at Alfred Deakin Place from 5.00pm to 8.00pm. Special guest speakers include Pam Ahern, Director of Edgar's Mission, Jason Carstens and Mark Doneddu from World Vegan Day.
Food demo will be hosted by the local vegan cafe, Namaste Nourishment.

On the final day of the festival, a walk for the animals will be held at Lake Wendouree from 10.00am. It's being held to recognise the millions of animals from a myriad of species that are exploited, harmed and killed unnecessarily by members of one species. Following the walk, enjoy a picnic at McDonald's Bandstand but don't forget the picnic rug or chair, hat and sunscreen. Dolly's Addiction will be serving food and drinks. Dogs are welcome, but make sure they are on a leash at all times, as there's wildlife in the area.
