Ballarat's Astronomical Society is holding a Star Party as part of Stargazing Live on 23 May, 2018. The event will take place at the
Ballarat Municipal Observatory and Museum , as they are hoping Ballarat residents help smash the Guinness World Records title for the most people in one country stargazing at the same time.
Stargazing Live is hoping to get 30,000 people across multiple sites to simultaneously observe an object in the night sky through a telescope for the same 10-minute period. It will include a live ABC screening with renowned physicist Professor Brian Cox and Julia Zemiro.
This is a free event and will still take place if there is cloudy or rainy weather. Telescopes available for purchase at a cost of $7.15 which includes GST. You're welcome to bring your own telescope or binoculars but you will still need to register your interest. You can book your tickets

It's encouraged that attendees bring a picnic blanket and pack a picnic but there will be an option to purchase food or drinks from a range of onsite food trucks. This is an alcohol and drug-free event.
As the weather is getting colder, it's wise to bring a jacketor warmer clothes and an umbrella or a poncho in the event of wet weather.
