Ballarat's Astronomical Society is holding a Star Party as part of Stargazing Live on 23 May, 2018. The event will take place at the Ballarat Municipal Observatory and Museum, as they are hoping Ballarat residents help smash the Guinness World Records title for the most people in one country stargazing at the same time.

Stargazing Live is hoping to get 30,000 people across multiple sites to simultaneously observe an object in the night sky through a telescope for the same 10-minute period. It will include a live ABC screening with renowned physicist Professor Brian Cox and Julia Zemiro.
