Ballarat International Foto Biennale (BIFB) is a month-long celebration of photography currently being staged in town until Sunday 15 September.

It features around 200 separate photographic events through Ballarat.

The biennale contains a core program of invited photographers from Australia, New Zealand, Netherlands, Germany, Israel, United States of America, South Korea, United Kingdom, Columbia and Sweden which are displayed over eight heritage-listed sites.

Alongside the Core exhibitions, a fringe program comprised of 98 shows staged throughout the city for photographers of all levels to present their work. A variety of locations include galleries, project spaces, non-gallery venues and cafes.

During the event there is a projection program, public art program, workshops, seminars and master-classes, artist floor talks, portfolio reviews and a photographic book prize.

Most photography displays are free to attend, within five minutes' walking distance from each other and are opened according to the various exhibition spaces.
