The
Ballarat Begonia Festival has a huge following and will bloom again from
11-13 March 2023, from 10am to 5pm. Expect gorgeous vibrant floral displays, markets, live music, family friendly activities, roving entertainment and more. A showcase of our city's unique and rare collection of Begonias can be found at the Robert Clark Conservatory. An impressive collection that's the rarest in the Southern hemisphere, and one of Ballarat's largest events, the Festival has been drawing thousands of visitors to the city since it was first established in 1953.
Check the
event calendar here for all events that include workshops and more. Find all the
FAQs here and the
Festival Map here . For a PDF version of the map,
see here . The Festival is held at the
Ballarat Botanical Gardens on Gillies Street North, N Ballarat. You'll also find the full Green House Ballarat Stage program on both maps -
website and
PDF .
A highlight of the event, the
Festival Parade will be held on
13 March from 11am to 12pm at the Botanical Gardens travelling along
Wendouree Parade, Lake Wendouree, commencing at the Tramways Museum, and conclude adjacent to North Gardens. The Power FM Begonia Festival Parade attracts 10,000 people each year, and this year, an exciting line-up of entrants awaits.
The
Farmers Market will be held
11-12 March at the
North Gardens Reserve, Zoo Drive, Lake Wendouree. Running for two full days of the Festival, the market will operate from
9am to 5pm on Saturday and 10am to 5pm on Sunday. With over 80 stalls, there'll be lots to enjoy browsing through, complete with
a coffee van, and hot food stalls . Find craft, art, clothing, wine, gin, cider, bread and cakes, jam, fudge, homewares, plants, hats, leather goods, pottery, pet clothing and treats and much more! It's free to enter the market which is dog and family-friendly.
The Festival is not without entertainment and you'll find Music along the Prime Minister's Walk, at the South Stage, in the Begonia Courtyard, and the Main Stage area. Find the
lineup here , and the timeframes.
The
Greenhouse Ballarat Stage will hold a few events of interest like MasterChef contestant Tim Bone, a Ballarat-based chef who rose to fame in 2019 as a series semi-finalist. You'll find Tim's Toasties available at the Festival's Begonia Bar courtyard, and Till will also be cooking up a storm on the Green House Stage. For a more Indigenous flavour, you might like Black Olive (Mark Olive) also at the Green House stage cooking up a storm with Kangaroo stir fry, and Whiting Fillet in paper bark on the cards. There's lots more other speakers and workshops to discover, and interesting snippets to read, so be sure to stay in touch and scour the
website and the
Facebook page.
