On the 12th of October 2002, bombs were detonated in
Bali killing 202 people, including 88 Australians. A busy tourist strip, in particular Paddy's Bar and Sari Club, was targeted that night. Australia suffered the largest loss of life, although citizens of approximately 20 countries were victims. In addition to these deaths, hundreds more people were wounded.
A memorial has since been built on Jalan Legian in Kuta. It is intricately carved and consists of a large plaque bearing the names of those who died. Members of the public are welcome to come and pay their respects here. Entry is free. Do be mindful that roads around the site can be heavily congested at times, so you'll want to take extra care when you're walking.
