I'm a travelling mother of one, from the UK but now living in Indonesia. Looking forward to sharing day out ideas with you.
Why not support it in 2019 and enter it next year?
If you start to notice people around Gianyar looking surprisingly fit towards the start of September, don't be surprised. It's time for the yearly Bali Marathon, which is also combined with the Bali Half Marathon, 10K and even a kids dash.
It starts and ends in the same place, in front of the Bali Taman Safari and Marine Park in Gianyar. The 26.2 miles takes the competitors through the tranquil Balinese countryside and typical island villages. Mainly focusing on the regencies of Gianyar and Klungkung.
It may be an early start but at least it beats the heat
Registration has closed for this year but it's always worth turning up to offer your support to the runners. And there's a great atmosphere along the route with bands and traditionally dressed dancers cheering everyone on.
And if you're wondering if you should run it next year, it has been named one of the most "remarkable races in the world" and one that must be participated in "before you die" by The Active Times, the competition boasts a challenging route that highlights Bali's wonderful landscapes and cultures, including its songs and dances.
Will you be there to support the runners along the way?
So after you've supported the runners in this year's event, if you get bitten by the running bug and decide you want to sign up for next year here's what you need to know:
1. Online registration normally starts around the end of March 2. There's a two-week window to secure the early bird prices, which are normally around 200,000 IDR cheaper than after this window. 3. There's also a discount if you pay with a Maybank credit card
4. There are only 2100 place which has increased year after year since it started in 2012 due to demand. 5. The cut-off time is 7 hours so you'd need to finish within this time
