School Museum
I decided I would go on one of my many usual walks around Balgownie. They take about half an hour. This one starts at Liqourland, on the corner of Napier Street and Balgownie Road.

This particular walk takes you up past Balgownie School. The walk shows you different styles of suburbia and the main street of Balgownie Village. Balgownie School has a museum attached to it and on this particular day the museum was opened.

The museum is open on the 2nd Sunday of every month between 11am and 4pm. It is located in the school grounds with the entrance being on Chalmer Street.

The museum has three rooms. The first is a room full of household and industrial artefacts and the walls are full of photos of the local soccer team, brass band and community groups.

The second room is filled with school photos and memorabilia.

The third is full of mining history about the local collieries. The museum is filled with stories of three or four generations living and growing up in Balgownie.

It is a cute little museum showing you the life of a small village from the 1900s to now. It is worth a drop in if you are going past.
