Located within the City Botanic Gardens, offers recreational opportunities for children of all ages and abilities.
The most striking feature of this playground is a brightly coloured green climbing fort. Interactive sensory play equipment is positioned at both ground level and along the wheelchair-accessible playground ramp. These play elements allow children to manipulate different pieces of equipment and/or experiment with sound by tapping, banging and scraping. Alternatively, children can enjoy slides (including one made from rolling steel tubes), climbing nets and viewing platforms. Material shade sails have recently been added for sun protection.
Sensory play is continued in a sheltered sandpit area. Younger children will delight in using digging machines, sand activity table and of course, general free play.
Towards the rear of the playground is a selection of rockers and swings. A multiple swing bay includes a parent-child facing seat and a large harnessed swing seat. An accessible carousel also accommodates two wheelchair users. This entire area is covered with soft rubber flooring for additional safety. There are no material sails, however adequate sun protection is afforded by the magnificent tall trees nearby.
Several picnic tables and chairs overlook the Baldwin Lawn Playground, allowing supervising adults to rest, enjoy a coffee or tend to babies in prams.
Of course, no trip to the City Botanic Gardens is complete without a stroll along the Brisbane River. Wide shared pathways are ideal for parents with prams or wheelchair users.
